As per John Doer in TechCrunch Disrupt ’10, we are in the middle of third wave of disruptive innovation. One of the components of this third wave is social media and communities, as is cleared from the success of Facebook and other related sites. As per Mark Zuckerberg in Web 2.0 Summit 2010:

Coeus Solutions GmbH has been developing communities since 2004, ranging from dedicated mobile communities such as specialized medical communities to educational communities such as lawresourceexchange.com to social news portals such as YiGG.de and Zitig.ch. We conceptualize the overall architecture, develop, deploy and manage the communities and portals for our clients. The communities can also be Intranet communities as we recently developed one for one of the largest telecom providers in Europe based entirely in Drupal.
We use various tools for the portals and communities depending on project and client requirements. Some of our communities have been developed in Joomla, some in Drupal, and others in PHP Zend, PHP Symfony, Ruby on Rails or even ASP.NET.
